above places

the arrival of a storm

billows of charcoal cotton entwined with

pieces of sky of a paler smoke hue

envelope the horizon

blanketing the landscape with ever changing

shadows that cast eerie faces

upon the rocks below

haloes of gray mist loft above darkly wicked swells

that spiral angrily onto the wet hard-packed sand

sending tentacles of spray and foam

sprinting across the shore to hide

deep inside the jagged crevasses

liquid pellets freckle the sea

and dimple the sand

as the last light of the setting sun

dims below the horizon

deep timpani drums bellow

and nature's synthesizers echo

through the wonderfully dismal sky

escalating from a murmur

to a roar

pulsating sheets of blinding light

scar the gray canvas above

as the symphony begins

the Conductor bows

another storm

has arrived

i am ready
